Giveaway Day!

Have you seen all the wonderful giveaways going on over at Sew, Mama, Sew?  It's pretty exciting to see so much generosity and handcrafting talent in one place!

I'd been meaning to do a giveaway here before Christmas, so it made sense to link up.  Welcome faithful friends and visitors alike!

As much as I love to sew, I also love thrifting and finding interesting vintage items.  So my giveaway today is for six half-yard cuts of vintage fabrics from my treasure hunting, along with "Pieces of Time," a 2012 Calendar featuring vintage fabric illustrations by Erin Ink Design. Click the link to see more views of this cute 6x9 inch calendar in her Etsy shop.

Erin also sells fabulous Pyrex inspired note cards and other beautifully illustrated items.  (Yes, I have Pyrexia too!)

The fabrics are all 100% cotton and there is one-half yard of each.  Note that because these are vintage, they measure approximately 34-35 inches wide from selvage to selvage, instead of the modern day 40-42 inches wide.  All have been prewashed and pressed.

Here are the giveaway details:

* This giveaway is open until December 16, 2011 at 7:00 CST.  I will ship internationally.

* Winner will be selected at random and notified by email.

* To enter, leave a comment answering the following question:  If you could change one thing about how you celebrate the holidays, what would it be?  (Shop less?  Eat more?  Do more for charity?  Forget the snow and fly to Mexico?)

* Please include your email address in your comment, or make sure your reply contact setting is not set to "no reply."

That's it!  Thanks for visiting, and come back again sometime!

Good luck, and have fun exploring the other giveaways at Sew, Mama, Sew!

Oooh, I would totally import snow! It would be awesome to have snow on Christmas! :)

pbs.seams said...

I would spend more time enjoying the holidays with my family than worrying about how everything looked and tasted.

I'd fly my whole family to my house for Christmas! Thanks for the chance!

My biggest struggle is with my husband, whose ideas of how much to spend and how many presents there should be far exceeds mine. We're achieving balance, but it's veeeery slow going.

Sarita said...

I would change all the shopping people do during the holidays! Thanks for the giveaway!

Cricket said...

I would like less pressure. Although, I have done much better this year. I just want to spend time with my family.

Calikisses said...

I'd love for Christmas to be during December only. All of this stuff showing up in stores before or barely after Halloween just irks me.

Thanks for the wonderful giveaway! I would love to forego gifts altogether and take a tropical vacation instead, but as much as I think I"d like to do that, I don't know if it would still feel like Christmas!! It's a dilemma. On the whole though, I like how we celebrate, pretty low key, just a few gifts, lots of time with family and friends, and maybe a bit of snow...if we're lucky.

less stress and more relaxation! why do the holidays have to be so stressful?!

Ana e os Viraventos said...

I would avoid all the stress that implies travelling to see my husband's parents!

Eema-le said...

I would love to be able to have my entire family with me for every holiday. We are spread out over 4 states, and it's so hard to get together. I wish we could see each other more often.

Meghan said...

I would take more time just for my husband and me, away from all the extended family (much as we love them).

Anonymous said...

I like your idea of running away to someplace warm, but in reality I think I'd just like it to be less stressful about getting everything done and just enjoying time with family and friends.

I wish Santa was real so I could make a Christmas list and get excited, the way I did when I was a kid.

Mindy said...

if i could change one thing about how i celebrate the holidays i woud get my family to go Christmas caroling together and then go serve in a soup kitchen. I guess that's two things, but...

Lyanna L. said...

Hmm...I think that I would try to do more holiday activities with my family throughout the season. I loved this question - it made me think a lot.

Victoria said...

I would finish all my preparations by the beginning of December so I could relax and enjoy the holidays with my children and grandchildren.

Binks said...

I wish I could give more. And not necessarily through buying things or money, I just wish that I can make my loved ones Christmas hopes come true.

I would celebrate more often with my family. It's hard to do that now because we all live so far apart, but I really wish I could change that. :)

I would love for my kids to experience a real white Christmas!

shayshap said...

I would find more time to relax and kick back with grandkids without giving up sleep.

It would be nice to spend the holiday with my entire family. But there is too much distance to make that possible. Thanks for the opportunity.

These last few years I've had out of town business meetings the first 2 weeks of December. It puts me so far behind I never really catch up. So, this one I can fix, starting next year I won't have those meetings any more and I can enjoy the whole month of December instead of the last 2 weeks. Thanks for the giveaway.

If I could change one thing about how my family celebrates the holidays, I would take the focus off of giving and receiving presents. Every year I stress and stress about shopping and spending too much money, when all I really want for Christmas is to be with my husband and daughter, have some fun together and relax.

(That was a really good question!)

Jeanne Gwin said...

My sister passed away on September 17th. If I could change anything it would be to bring her hone and let her have one last healthy Christmas. She loved her grandchildren so much and they miss her, so do I.

I would rent a lodge and get the whole family together without the hassle of anybody having to host the whole crowd!

Sandra said...

I would like to stress less and enjoy more.

Melissa said...

Oh wow! Gorgeous vintage fabrics! If I could change one thing about how we celebrate the holidays, it would be that I could be organized enough to have a proper Christmas day brunch at our house. It always seems to sneak up so fast that I am never fully prepared.

I would stop & breathe for just 2 moments... right before continuing to run around like the panicked madwoman that I am :)

Thank you!

I wish I could have a house cleaner, to keep my house clean while I focused on enjoying the time with my children and family.

If i could change my holidays in a one way, it would be to add more amazing traditions! I have two little girls, and do with them the traditions my single father did with me and my brother every christmas ( opning one present christmas eve, baking cookies for santa ect.) but i would add more to what we do, like doing a gingerbread house, and maybe caroling for neighbors, with school and work, their isnt time to do all. but each year i have noticed we do more together to celebrate holidays, which is an amazing feeling. I guess i just want to do it all ! lol

Thanks for entering me, may you have a very blessed holiday,

I would love to stop the gift giving among adults on my husband's side. On my side of the family, we only give presents to the little kids in the family and it's wonderful. The rest of us just enjoy each others presence.

Kathy said...

I love those vintage fabrics! I'd like to hire someone to clean my house for me and run errands for the few weeks before Christmas!

I wish there was some way to have ALL the family together, my inlaws, parents, and extended family. It sucks having to figure out if we should stay home for Christmas, or travel.

I would prefer eat less.
Thanks for the generous giveaway and a chance to win!

Happy Holidays! I plan to start focusing on others more during the holidays, and the rest of the year.

Lili said...

Ooh, the flying away to Mexico would be nice! But I think recentering to the real meaning of christmas would be a better idea. Just be happy with what you've got and the people around you ... Thanks for the give away!

kimmysue said...

I would like to simplify the holidays. I've seen some people say they give their kids four presents: One thing they want, One thing they need, One thing to wear, and One thing to read.

Start early making handmades!

I would ban Christmas decorations from being out and sold in the stores until December 1st. Do we really need Christmas decorations and pressure from retail right after Halloween?

Lucija said...

Definitly eat less:-)
Thanks for the giveaway!

As long as we're dreaming I would have both our families live in the same town so less traveling.

Great giveaway--thanks for the chance! The one thing I would change would be my own preparation level. I wish I was one of those people who's done shopping by Thanksgiving. :)

Heather said...

Have more quiet time with my family, instead of needing to see EVERYONE.

Paula said...

If I could change one thing it would be staying at home (instead of having a full time job) and make even more things (gifts, cards, decorations and food). Maybe one day...

I'd like to spend a bit less. I try to make most of our gifts, but the holds of holiday sales still are a big part.

If I could change one thing it would be to live closer to my family. I really miss them around Christmas and only get to celebrate with them on alternate years. Maybe netx year!

Nancy Sue said...

Good question. I wish our work culture gave us more time off to visit family who may live further away :)

I'd love to have less of a focus on the gifts. Maybe a lower spending limit or everyone has to make/buy something handmade.

Ooh I need a calendar! I'd find some way to convince my difficult aunt that I love giving presents, and I'd make things for people (and give them the day after or something) even if she managed to convince everyone to go to the one-person secret-sants option. I'd get people not to feel a sense of obligation about gift-giving! (So that maybe they'd just be happy to get what I make them, rather than irrationally angry at me because they didn't do anything for me!)

Sasha said...

I'd just cut back on everything, less food, less presents, just more time with those that i love.

Those fabrics are heavenly. How can you even think to give them away?! I shouldn't complain though!

I wish I was more prepared for Christmas. The year just goes by so quickly and I don't get as much done (like baking and handmade presents) as I'd like to and I always think 'well, next year...'.

What a great giveaway! Thanks so much for the chance to participate!

If I could change one thing, it would be for my whole family to be together. The real gift is to be together, not to have presents under the tree!
