It's been pretty quiet in this little speck of the blogosphere lately, but rest assured things are fine.
My dad had some elective surgery this week, and we've been making sure he's comfortable and on the road to recovery. He is doing well, although he looks like he's been in a fight. As he says, "You should see the other guy."
I had hoped to have a quilt ready to bind that I could work on while I was waiting at the hospital on Thursday, but it didn't turn out that way. I am in the midst of quilting it now though.
I am trying this Essentials 50 wt. cotton thread from Connecting Threads, and so far so good. It sews well, it's low lint, and I like the subtle sheen.
The deck construction has resumed as well. Looks like the robins have given it their special seal of approval.
Hope you are having a great weekend ~ and Happy Independence Day!
Happy Independence Day to you too! I love your new header - I don't think I had seen that before! And I see a little zipper clutch up there that now resides in my purse..... I love it!!
ReplyDeleteOooh..the gold on the blue is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteNice deck! Just in time for a 4th of July party:) Have a great weekend!
Congratulations on the deck. It looks like we both had wins in the tradie department this week. Im seeing myself sitting on your deck at some point in the future. Decks and wine go together admirably.
ReplyDeleteThe quilting looks great ! The thread colour is perfect. Thats the Sudoku quilt isnt it?
Glad to hear your Dad is recovering and they didnt remove his sense of humour!
Wow, you sure are a busy camper. Good luck with old Dad. The quilt looks lovely. Love your header!
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty thread for a pretty quilt.
ReplyDeleteGlad the deck work resumed and the birds have already christened. ;D
So, when you said that you'd bought some solids on sale, I went over to have a peek. I was wondering if they might have something I could use in a quilt. It is kind of hard to match colors on-line, but I threw a couple of things in my cart. And then I saw that spools of thread were on sale for $1.74. Spools of 1200 yards of 100$ cotton thread. So, I added six white, six cream and three black spools to my card. At that price, it is perfect for stoking up for piecing. But then I got looking at all the colors and wondered if you were really supposed to quilt with it. So I started adding colors; red, because that's always handy, and then colors I thought might work in quilts I'm going to quilt soon. I'm kind of neurotic, though, and am having a hard time not getting ALL the colors. At $1.74 a spool (and free shipping on orders over $50), it is almost a crime not to. But how do you justify $149.64 worth of thread you may or may not ever use up?
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to narrow down my color choices and get my order back down to just over $50. I keep going back and forth about whether or not to just get one spool each of white and natural and get more colors. It looks like the thread is meant to be used for quilting. But at $1.74 for 1200 yards, you can't beat that price!
Enough about me. The quilting on your Sudoku quilt is AWESOME! You are totally rocking it! Love your thread choice. And Yay! It looks like your deck is in working order.

Happy 4th of July!
