Our flimsies were finished about a year ago (you can see Marei's HERE). Then mine went off to the local long arm quilter for a few months' vacation. It came back a few weeks ago and I finished the binding on it.
My trusty assistant and retired husband has a new, legitimate gig as official "Quilt Holder-Upper." The pay sucks, but there's a decent benefit package. He seems like a natural.
Sandy did a nice all over, swirly floral quilting motif.
A glimpse of the backing and dotty binding.
In other happenings, we spent a pleasant afternoon at the Museum of Wisconsin Art again recently.

I first thought they were nesting in the pines far back in the yard, but the other day I hung sheets out on the line for the first time this spring and watched a crow with a beak full of sticks fly into the ash tree right off the deck. Yep, there it was, the crow's nest, about 40 feet off the ground.
Last spring it was mallards, this year it's crows. It's going to be an interesting summer!

Your quilt is lovely (and how nice to have a permanent, full time quilt holder).
Sorry to hear you were ill - food poisoning is vile, especially when it ruins a favourite dish for ever. Those heads made me smile: my dad owns a little old lady and a little old man, from the days when his family emigrated from Norway - not political statement, just to go on a wall, so I am wondering if these ones are rooted in a tradition of heads on the wall?
Sorry, ut I did laugh at your unfortunate situation. So sorry you were ill. Frank calls on the plants up and down the river through LA, MS and AL. So he is in his car all day long. He eats at all the greasy spoons near the plants. Luckily he has not had much of a problem in the 40 years. But suddenly last week he is driving in the middle of nowhere and it hits him. Poor guy spent the next three hours in a truck stop bathroom on the phone to me. And if you knew him, he is somewhat of a germaphobe.........
Love the crows taking up homesteading so close by. We just had a baby squirrel stuck in the downspout. I have bassets, they wanted to dismantle the back half of the house.......
Loved the colours of your S.M.M. quilt - I made a test block last year and it's now on my 'to do' list. Good to read at the end of your story that you made a full recovery :)
Oh, I'm so sorry you were sick! That's awful! But on the other hand, your Mountain Majesties is AWESOME!!!
We are planning a trip to the Museum of WI Art tomorrow. The girls are also going to Harry Potter Day at the WB Library. I had thought maybe we'd grab lunch, but uh, now I'm not so sure! Lol. Your quilt is lovely! How fortunate you are to have a sewing friend!
Fainting in the john is the worst! Oh Paulette I am sorry you got so sick. It does sound like food poisoning, but maybe you better have your iron checked too.
I love your Carl Sandburg quote and your description of hubby's new job made me crack up. :) The crow thinking about being a man is so cool too. What a great museum!
Crows in the yard are a whole lot less fun.

What a wonderful assortment of photos! And a colorful story - although I'm so sorry that you had to go through that.
Such a beautiful quilt! And I love the quilting on it so much!
I am glad you are feeling better. Love your quilt.i haven't made one of Bonnie's patterns yet but always enjoy seeing how they turn out.
I am so glad I read your post! Seeing your quilt was very timely and now I have another one added to my list. Yours is so festive and cheerful - love it!
Bonnie's quilts are so much fun to work on - especially with a sewing buddy! Sounds like your hubby is not only a natural at his new job, he's also a great guy to have around when bug season hits!
Hi, I'm back visiting from Lara's fun mini hop. I'm so sorry to hear about your food poisoning incident. So awful, but your telling of it was hilarious. I'm glad you weren't more seriously hurt when you fell. And I hope you don't have a repeat episode, but isn't it a bummer that it ruined a food for you? I love your version of Bonnie's quilt pattern with the colorful fabrics. I usually think of Delectable Mountains as a kind of monochromatic pattern. I don't know why. Yours is so vibrant.
Beautiful scrappy quilt! Sorry to hear you got sick and thank goodness you didn't get hurt in the fall! Birds.....crows.....they wake us up too!
Oh you poor thing! Drat that salad for tasting so good and being so bad for you. Your trip to the museum looked fun though. What wonderful exhibits!
I love that quilt, and how you used so many neutrals against the colours!
Sorry you were so sick, but fortunately you recovered quickly. Your description of your husbands "new" job made me laugh, thank you for that!
