I started my Hands2Help charity quilt this weekend and thought I'd share the tutorial I'm using for it. Sarah, organizer of Hands2Help, is having a linkup this week of "Tutes, Tips, and Tasty Things" for H2H-ers. Here is my submission for the "Triple T" theme.
I'm using a free pattern by Sandi at Piecemeal Quilts, called Criss Cross Quilt. Sandi is a talented and generous quilter, and I've had the pleasure to meet her in person recently. She is a whiz at designing in EQ and has generously shared many of her patterns as free PDF downloads, and some for sale, on her pattern page.
I was drawn to the bright colors of the Criss-Cross Quilt, as well as the pattern's scrap friendliness. What a great scrap buster!
Several months ago, I finally organized my stash, folding and stacking it and sorting the smaller scraps into bins. That is making this quilt all the more pleasant a process.
I simply grab a bin and pick a few scraps in one color family. Cut 5-inch squares, zip some half-square triangles together with white squares. Press, arrange, sew, and you have a block in no time.
Okay, that's pushing it...it does take time, but it goes pretty fast.
Now if I had the tool that Sarah talks about in today's linkup, I'd be able to whip out those HSTs even faster!

What a great pattern - thank you for the link, this is a definite keeper!
Thanks for sharing the link. This is a great block to use up scraps.
Very cool block, and your organizing totally paid off!
Beautiful work P.!
Awesome block. It looks like a great stash busting block. Thanks for sharing.
Great pattern...thanks for sharing!
great fabric combos
These blocks are so pretty. I like how you did them all monochromatic
Love it! I have it book marked!
P., those blocks are so bright and cheery! I LOVE your fabrics. This will be such a pretty quilt and it is for such a worthy cause. I looked at this post yesterday morning and thought about your blocks and the Hands 2 Help all the way to work. I am wondering if I can squeeze in some time to help out . . . I'm sure it doesn't have to be a masterpiece, right? I'll think on it some more.
Again, such fun pretty blocks. I hope you'll post your progress because I can't wait to see more!

That is one of my favorite blocks, and I love the colors you have chosen. I've never heard of H2H before, but it looks like a good way to contribute.
I checked out the link to H2H and it looks like something I'd like to do, but I couldn't find out where to send the completed quilt. What do you do when you finish your quilt? btw, those tools do look pretty neat, especially the done with the groove down the center.
This is such a great pattern. The variations you could use for colours are endless and it could really change the whole look of the quilt.I can see this done in a reds and being stunning.
Thanks for the links and for making me want to run downstairs and make this block ASAP! LOL Great work!
That is going to be such a cute quilt. I can't wait to see it finished.
These blocks are just so happy! Looks like they would be fun to make...., well maybe one day.
